SCM Life Science (SCM Life Science, KOSDAQ 298060, CEO Lee Byung-gun) announced on the 11th that they has obtained a Chinese patent for pharmaceutical compositions for preventing or treating hair loss, which contain CXCL1 (C-X-Cmotif) ligand 1) protein as an active ingredient. With this patent, Scm Life Science will be able to lay the technical foundation for entering China's Kosumetic market. 

 

CXCL1, a hair growth-promoting patent, is a type of chemokine, a low molecular weight protein with vasodilating ability, and is expected to stimulate stem cells present in hair follicles to promote hair growth. When CXCL1 was applied to experimental mice with hair removed, Scm Life Science registered a patent after obtaining experimental results that the hair growth effect was superior to that of the control group that did not, and published a paper. The duration of patents in China is until 2037.

 

In addition, SCM Life Science is selling shampoo from the Iroro Dearscalp Anti-Hair Loss & Scalp Care Line containing CXCL1 through the Cosmetics brand "Iroro. Iroro products are planning to advance into the global market based on positive evaluations in the Southeast Asian market including Korea.

 

Patents for pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating hair loss using the CXCL1 protein have already been registered in Korea and overseas regions such as ▲ Japan ▲ the United States ▲ Europe ▲ Russia. The patent registration is significant in that SCM Life Science has further strengthened its intellectual property base for entering the global Cosmetics market, including China.
